Project
The Compagnie Fruitière Foundation, with the support of Compagnie Fruitière France, provides the Banque Alimentaire des Bouches du Rhône with a pallet of bananas per week (around 800kg) from its Chateaurenard site.
Upon receipt in the warehouse of the Banque Alimentaire in la Pomme – Marseille, the fruits are distributed among the 200 partner associations of the BA13 in the Bouches du Rhône who come to collect the food. The associations then distribute them to the beneficiaries (more than 170,000 people) according to their mode of operation: baskets, meals, marauding or solidarity grocery shopping.
The association
Created in 1986, the Bouches-du-Rhône Food Bank is the leading food aid network in the department.
It acts mainly through 4 axes :
- Collect
Food Banks fight against food insecurity, particularly through the fight against food waste. The network collects products, sorts them then stores them for better redistribution. - Distribute
These products are given fairly to associations, Community Social Action Centers (CCAS) and partner social grocery stores, in charge of distribution to the public receiving food aid. - To accompany
These associative partners are supported throughout the year by the network in their mission of helping the people welcomed through training, workshops and educational tools. - To feed
For Food Banks, the provision of food products must be considered essential to social bonds in a process of welcoming, listening and support in order to promote the return to autonomy of the people supported
