The project
ANDES’ action today takes place in a context of a considerable increase in basic food needs in France, linked to the health and social crisis. The war in Ukraine and the current more global context of inflation aggravate this precarious situation; at the same time, food aid structures are facing a significant drop in donations from their main suppliers, particularly retailers.
Thanks to the support of public and private partners such as the Compagnie Fruitière Foundation, which makes this support process free for the holders and offers them an essential financial boost at the start, ANDES therefore aims to support the creation of 300 new solidarity grocery stores throughout France.
In this context, the Compagnie Fruitière Foundation supports 2 projects to create solidarity grocery stores in Marseille which should see the light of day at the end of 2023 or in 2024 in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille for one and in the 9th arrondissement for the other one.
The organization
ANDES, created in 2000, is the pioneering network of solidarity grocery stores and one of the main players in food aid in France. For more than 20 years, ANDES has provided low-income families with the means to have access to diversified and quality food.
it has developed a network of more than 550 solidarity grocery stores which supports 200,000 people per year.
The association also develops fresh fruit and vegetable supply solutions for food aid structures : fighting against food waste by recycling unsold products from professionals in the fruit sector while creating effective systems to support people who are far from employment.
ANDES’ purpose is to innovate for sustainable integration around quality food for all.
Andes, is an association of the SOS Group.
